School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability

Making a difference in the coastal plain and beyond.

The Earth is a fascinating place. It’s not perfectly round,  gravity isn’t uniform in every place on the planet and the length of a day increases about 1.7 milliseconds every century. But our planet is also facing some serious environmental challenges, such as pollution and deforestation. That’s why it’s more important than ever to study Earth science and sustainability.

Welcome to the School of Earth, Environment and Sustainability (SEES) at Georgia Southern University. We’re dedicated to the study of geosciences and home to the James H. Oliver, Jr., Institute for Coastal Plain Science. We’re committed to cutting-edge research, education and outreach initiatives that will help us create a sustainable and resilient future for the coastal plain region and beyond.

If you’re passionate about making a difference in the world, SEES is the place for you. We offer a variety of degree programs that will prepare you for a career in environmental science, sustainability or a related field. We also have a strong commitment to outreach, and we encourage our students to get involved in our community-based projects.

We invite you to learn more about SEES and how you can be a part of our transformative efforts. Together, we can make a difference for our planet and all its inhabitants.
