SFC Zarina Montgomery

Sergeant First Class Zarina Montgomery was born in Kazakhstan, Almaty. She was adopted by the age of 15 and joined the U.S. Army in February 2008, right out of high school. She attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and advanced individual training for the military occupational specialty of 92A (Logistics Specialist) at Fort Lee, Virginia. She eventually reclassed to 42A (Human Resources Specialist) in 2012 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. She deployed to Iraq twice with her fist unit.

SFC Montgomery’s assignments include: 64th Brigade Support Battalion 3-4th ID (Fort Carson, Colorado) 2009-2012, 16th Sustainment Brigade (Bamberg/Baumholder, Germany) 2012-2015, 1st Engineer Brigade/35th Engineer Battalion (Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri) 2015-2017, 1-214th General Support Aviation Battalion/USAREUR G1 (Wiesbaden, Germany) 2017-2020.

SFC Montgomery has served in a variety of positions including: Supply Support Activity (SSA) clerk, S-1 Clerk, Battalion S-1 NCOIC, USAREUR Personnel Strength Management NCOIC, Battalion Command Sponsorship, Unit Prevention Leader, BOSS Representative, and Combined Federal Campaign Representative.

SFC Montgomery’s military schools include: Combat Lifesavers Course, Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, SHARP Foundation, Cadre Training, Mobile Retention Training, Unit Prevention Leader, and Standard Army Maintenance System Operator Course.

SFC Montgomery’s military awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal (2 oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (8 oak leaf clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th​ Award), National Defense Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon (Numeral 5), Certificate of Achievement (6), Driver Badge, and Marksmanship Qualification Badge – Expert with Rifle.

SFC Montgomery is currently pursuing a degree in Business Management with the American Military University.  She joined the Eagle Battalion in January 2021 and assists in administrative functions.
