CPT Ed Pitts

Captain Ed Pitts joined the Eagle Battalion as an Assistant Professor of Military Science in July 2020.

Originally from Springfield, VA, Ed graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Management and received a commission in the branch of Field Artillery in May of 2011.

Following graduation, he attended the Field Artillery Officer’s Basic Course, and was assigned to B Battery, 3rd Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division where he served as a Platoon Leader and Fire Direction Officer. Thereafter, he was deployed to Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Later, he served as the Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 3rd Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division until his assignment to Captain’s Career Course.

With completion of Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course, he assumed the role of Assistant Brigade Fire Support Officer and the Effects Coordinator for the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. A reassignment of his role transitioned him to the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer and the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery Commander to 1st Battalion 82nd Field Artillery Regiment. He later assumed command of Headquarters and Support Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division and relinquished command in July 2020.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO ISAF Medal, Army Service Ribbon, the Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.

Captain Pitts is married to the former Ms. Pamela J. Muscher from Elizabeth City, NC. They have a two year old son, Hudson Lewis Pitts.
