About The Planetarium
Planetarium Supports Two University Strategic Pillars
The GSU Planetarium is a strong component of the University’s Strategic Pillar in Community Engagement. By providing an opportunity for community members to engage with the University in STEM education, the Planetarium is a concrete demonstration of the University’s commitment to being a valued partner and community resource.
In addition, the Planetarium supports the Teaching & Research Pillar of the University, through its use by all Astronomy lecture and lab classes, and the development of innovative research visualization methods in the sciences. The facility has also used its unique campus technology to host other scholarship events such as a music & art conference.
In 2019 there were over 9,000 visitors to the Planetarium
- 135 K-12 school groups with 7,000 students
- 1,000 university students received instruction
- 1,000 members of the general public attended one of the monthly events
In addition, all of the Astronomy Labs are taught in the Planetarium, along with our Planetarium internship program students.

Planetarium Assessment
The
Planetarium Assessment is based on a Qualtrics online survey that allows
visitors the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. The results indicate a very high level of
satisfaction. In particular to the question
“Would you recommend the Planetarium to others?” 99% answered in the
affirmative. The full results are
included here in table form, including written comments.
