Department of Physics & Astronomy

physicslogoThe department offers a variety of studies in the fields of Physics and Astronomy leading to a Bachelor of Science in Physics or a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Physics degree. Our majors graduate well prepared for a career in physics whether it be in industry, a professional degree such as medicine or dentistry, teaching physics in the high school, or to pursue an advanced degree.

In addition to an in-depth program of study for students, the department offers opportunities for students to participate in world-class physics/astronomy research in the following areas:

The Georgia Southern Planetarium is housed in the department and offers a variety of events for K-12 students and the public through public evenings.
