Nuclear Energy

Activity Summary

This lesson focuses on nuclear energy as an alternative source to fossil fuels. Students will work in groups of four to create a device that will produce steam when placed on a hot plate. This steam needs to leave the structure in a stream that is concentrated enough to cause a fan to turn. After the students have succeeded in creating an effective steam turbine, students will apply these concepts to the use of turbines in nuclear energy.
