Academic Support

  • Advisement Center (COSM):The COSM Advisement Center provides guidance and resources to students including Curriculum Sheets and 2-Year Course rotations for each department, as well as medical professions advisement. Departmental scholarship information and current research opportunities can also be found on this site.

  • Advisement, Medical Professional:The Office of Medical Professions Advisement provides coaching and guidance for qualified students navigating future careers in the following health professions: dentistry, medicine (MD and DO), optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant and veterinary medicine.
  • Academic Success Center: ASC offers student-centered services in tutoring, mentoring, testing, success coaching, consultations, and workshops. 
  • *Information Technology Service: The Division of Information Technology Services (ITS) serve, support, and maintain the robust, modern technology environment for the Georgia Southern University community.

  • Regents Center for Learning Disorders: The RCLD offers comprehensive standardized assessments to students with learning problems in order to provide them with a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and to address specific requests for accommodations to facilitate their learning. 
  • SMART Center: The Science & Mathematics Academic Resource & Tutorial (SMART) Center offers free tutoring to the Armstrong campus by student tutors in Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, General and Organic Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, and Mathematics.

  • Student Accessibility Resource Center: The mission of SARC is to ensure that all qualified students with disabilities receive equal access to educational opportunities at Georgia Southern University. 
  • Testing Services, Office of: Georgia Southern University’s Office of Testing Services is dedicated to delivering centralized, efficient, and professional evaluation, preparation, and testing services to the Georgia Southern University campus community in a caring, compassionate and concerned setting. 
  • University Store (Statesboro): You’ll find the textbooks and academic supplies you need for class plus game day apparel and spirit merchandise all in one place at the University Store on the Statesboro Campus. Textbooks for all online courses are stocked through the Statesboro Campus store!

  • Writing Center: The Writing Center at Georgia Southern University gives students the opportunity for individualized feedback on their writing from experienced writers and teachers of writing.

Student Support Services

  • Counseling Center:The Counseling Center is where students can go to participate in programs and receive services designed to help them handle day-to-day challenges and encourage their personal growth and development. This center also handles Medical Withdrawals. The Counseling Center is staffed by clinicians who provide services on an individual, relationship, and group basis at no additional cost to those enrolled as full-time students at Georgia Southern.

  • *Campus Recreation and Intramurals: The purpose of the Department of Campus Recreation and Intramurals (CRI) is to provide growth opportunities and educational experiences, which will enrich the life-long learning process.

  • *Dean of Students, Office of:This office advocates for students on judicial matters, promotes educational opportunity and access, and facilitates communication through various facets of student media. Services include: appeal a grade, communication to students, leadership opportunities, notifications to faculty for hardships and withdrawals, student complaints, and voter information.
  • Military Resource Centers:Georgia Southern’s Military Resource Centers provide our military, veterans, and their family members with a place to get connected, relax, study, and meet with other service members and fellow Eagles.
  • Suited for Success:The Office of Career and Professional Development is excited to introduce Suited for Success, an initiative that provides Georgia Southern University students access to FREE professional attire appropriate for career fairs, interviews, networking events, and the workplace. Our goal is to help students look their best throughout their job search, so they can make a positive impression entering the professional world!
  • TRIO Student Support Services:TRiO Student Services is M.A.D. (Motivated and Determined) about student success. They provide comprehensive services to first-generation students, low-income students, and students with disabilities. These services are designed to retain students at Georgia Southern and to assist them in academic progression.   

Financial & Food

  • Captain’s Cupboard Food Pantry:The Captain’s Cupboard is a food pantry that serves as an emergency food program for students, faculty, and staff in need.  We offer a bag of food to those who are eligible every other week.

  • Eagles for Eagles: Eagles for Eagles is a Student Government Association student fundraising initiative. The purpose is to raise money to give awards to Georgia Southern students in extreme financial hardship.
  • *Financial Aid, Office of:The Financial Aid Office seeks to provide financial aid services which are accessible, sensitive to individual student needs, and effective in enabling students to bridge the gap between family resources and educational expenses. This office also handles HOPE Eligibility and other Financial Awards.

  • McNair Program: The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRIO program designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities.

  • Minority Advisement Program (MAP):The Minority Advisement Program (MAP) is a unique college mentoring/success program for minority incoming students (a.k.a. MAPees) that match freshmen and transfer students with upperclassmen to assist with their acclimation to college life.  The program helps students make the transition from either high school or from another college to Georgia Southern as smoothly as possible. 
  • *Multicultural Affairs, Office of (OMA): The mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to contribute to an inclusive learning environment by supporting the institutions efforts to retain and graduate students prepared for a diverse global society. We provide mentorship opportunities, deliver diversity education and inclusion training, celebrate the cultural diversity of all students, and advocate for underrepresented groups in the Georgia Southern University community guided by the University mission and CAS standards.

Policies

  • Code of Conduct and Academic Honesty:Our role is to educate students, faculty and staff about the rights and responsibilities of our students according to the Code of Student Conduct. One aspect of our mission is “to uphold the academic and behavioral standards of the University by adjudicating violations of the Student Conduct Code in a fair and consistent manner, treating each student with dignity and respect.”
  • Report an Incident: Georgia Southern University is concerned about the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff.  In an effort open the lines of communication across campus, we have created this incident report form.   This form provides an avenue for all faculty, staff, and students to report disturbing or suspicious activity to the Dean of Students Office.  This information will be passed along to the Office of Student Conduct, University Housing, and/or the Behavior Assessment Team.

  • Media Services, Equipment Loan: Media Services provides a variety of computer, traditional AV equipment and other items for check out by University faculty, staff and students.
