About Our Department
Degree programs in geology and geography offer a broad education in the sciences with special depth in geology and geography. Students in our department work with nationally and internationally known faculty and state-of the-art equipment in our teaching and research labs.
Graduates of our department have a skill-based education with the flexibility to meet changing career demands. Our majors learn relevant skills both in the classroom and via hands-on research with faculty mentors. More broadly, our majors gain a firm understanding of the role of science in society and are able to make informed decisions about geology- and geography-related issues that impact the future.
The Department of Geology and Geography has a long tradition of focusing on undergraduate education and research. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Geology, Geography, a minor in Geographic Information Science (GIS), and a graduate degree in Applied Geography.
