Dr. Wu wins the University Excellence in Research Award 2019-20

Dr. Ji Wu has recently won the 2018-19 Georgia Southern University Excellence in Research Award. Dr. Wu’s research involves synthesizing novel nano-materials that aim to solve world-class challenges in energy, environmental and medical sciences. Nanomaterials that have the potential to increase the efficiency of lithium ion batteries, act as biological and ionic sensors are recently synthesized in his lab.

Dr. Wu has mentored 32 undergraduate and 5 graduate students since 2013, resulting in 24 peer-reviewed journal articles and 24 presentations at various local and national conferences. Additionally, one United States Patent with Georgia Southern research student listed as the co-inventor has been allowed for issuance in 2019. Dr. Wu is also interested in the development of novel programmable drug delivery systems for efficient disease treatments utilizing light, pH and electricity as the stimulus to control the systems.
