Undergraduate researchers win awards at NOBCChE conference

Once again, Georgia Southern (GS) undergraduate researchers made us proud when they represented our institution at the 45th Annual Meeting for the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) in Orlando, FL, September 17-20, 2018. Eight students presented research that spanned the fields of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Computer Science. Raven Richardson (McNair scholar) nominated by her mentor, Dr. Ria Ramoutar, secured the highly competitive Winifred Burks-Houck Undergraduate Leadership Award, an honor that commemorates the memory of NOBCChE’s first female president. Another student, Ivan Cockman (CEMITURE NSF-CHE REU, mentor: Dr. Beverley Briggs) won the American Chemical Society (ACS) Exchange Award for the submitting one of the best abstracts to the conference. more info
