2019 GIS Day

Congratulations to three Georgia Southern students who won 2019 GIS Day Savannah Student Map Competition. Alejandro Herrera, a biology major and geography minor, won 1st place for his project on “Historical Analysis of Potential Temperature Influences on Sea Turtle Nesting in Fort Lauderdale Beach Park.” Katelee Wheeler, a geography major, won 2nd place for her work on “Hurricane Shelter Suitability Analysis in Chatham County, Georgia”. Chiamaka Chimah, a master student in Applied Geography, won 3rd place for her research on “Examining Spatial Inequalities in Green Space Availability and Distribution”. GIS Day is celebrated internationally as part of National Geographic’s International Geography Week each year.
