COSM Names New COUR Director

Dr. Hua Wang, of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, has been named the new College Office of Undergraduate Research (COUR) Director.

Dr. Wang joined the university in 2008 and since that time, has worked with 16 undergraduate students at Georgia Southern across many different science disciplines. Dr. Wang’s work with undergraduate students has been presented at numerous professional conferences and regional undergraduate symposia, resulting in prestigious awards and acception by professional peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Wang has served on the COUR Committee since 2010 and is a member of the national Council for Undergraduate Research. He serves as an advisor for the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) student chapter at Georgia Southern and for several years, has coached a Math Jeopardy team. He has provided Putnam training sessions for students and for several years, has served as a co-organizer for the regional undergraduate math conference (EUMC) that has been hosted at Georgia Southern.

Dr. Wang will begin his official duties as COUR Director in August 2016, however, he will begin working with the COUR Committee this semester in preparation for the COUR symposium.
