Research Interests
Dr. Mans studies the physiology of learning and memory using zebrafish as a model organism. Currently, the lab uses behavioral and molecular approaches to characterize proteins necessary for synaptic plasticity in vertebrates. Future studies will investigate the molecular mechanisms by which acute sleep deprivation impairs memory and whether chronic sleep deprivation can induce neurodegeneration in vertebrates.
