Whether you are a student or someone seeking research expertise in the life sciences, we are confident that we can meet your needs. The broad expertise of our faculty located on three campuses gives students the opportunity to excel in the full range of modern biology, including numerous pre-professional programs. While our department is large enough to give you access to state-of-the-art equipment in both teaching and research labs, our dedicated faculty will take a personal interest in making you feel like you are a member of a much smaller department.
As a graduate of our department you will be well-trained and equipped with the skills and flexibility to meet the changing demands of your career. More importantly, you will also gain a firm understanding of the role of science in society and be able to make informed decisions about biologically related issues that affect your future. Our department can help you broaden your horizons because our professors are involved in research projects that impact the country and the world. Our faculty’s research is focused on the natural resources and health science needs of southeastern Georgia, and we believe this focus will help meet the growing demands of an increasing population on the Georgia coastal plain.
You can be part of this work by participating in research, internships, and other capstone experiences. Our professors consistently receive awards for their teaching, research and service, and they are considered to be among the best faculty at Georgia Southern. As you can tell, we are proud of our department and we look forward to you becoming a member of our group and contributing to our, and your, success!
