Ranger Challenge Wins State

The Eagle Battalion Ranger Challenge team won the state competition Friday, October 21 at Fort Gordon, GA. The team competed in an Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), triage, one-rope bridge, land navigation, written exam, and a 10K ruck march. Teams compete with nine members and must include at least one female and at least one Cadet from each MS level.

Team members include David Adler, Grant Allen, Luc Aviles, Aaron Bohan, John Dudley, Sean de la Torre, Caleb Herd, Dakota Jones, and Madison Stewart. Alternates were Jamie Arvey, Patrick Barnett, Tania Camacho, and William Eberhart.

Georgia Southern earned First Place in the APFT, One-Rope Bridge, Written Exam, and the 10K Ruck March.
– Their average APFT score was a 302, beating the next best team by 18 points.
– They completed the One-Rope Bridge in 2:35. The next closest time was 4:47.
– They outscored the competition by an average of nearly 9 points on the Written Exam.
– They finished the 10K Ruck in 1:13:34, winning by a minute and a half.

The team will compete at the 6th Brigade Army ROTC competition at Camp Blanding, FL in January against the top teams from Alabama, Florida (2 teams), Louisiana, Mississippi, and Puerto Rico.
