Mining for Chocolate Chips
Activity Summary
Students will use paper clips to dig out chocolate chips in two types of chocolate chip cookies (regular and double chocolate chip). The chips represent minerals and the cookie portion represents land around the minerals. This activity will help students understand the processes of surface and subsurface mining and the toll it takes on land.
