Research Interests
My research is focused on understanding the genetic and evolutionary basis of phenotypic traits that vary between insects. I’m particularly interested in traits that contribute to speciation by acting as barriers to gene flow, either by stopping mating or reducing the fitness of hybrids. I’m also interested in the mechanisms and evolution of sociality in ants. My work integrates genetics, physiology, and behavior to understand how traits evolve and interact to produce the diversity of life we see today.
