The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of one of Georgia Southern University’s eight Colleges. Deans are regarded as the intellectual leader within the College and across the University and regional communities. Among other duties, the Dean sets the vision for the College within the University’s strategic plan, establishes new opportunities for the College, and directs its growth and development through shared academic governance. The Dean participates in campus-wide planning and is responsible for the College’s teaching quality, budget, development and allocation of resources, the administration of the academic and research programs, and alumni relations. The Dean also communicates official business of the College with University authorities, faculty, students, staff, and external constituencies and provides leadership in fundraising to augment state appropriations.

The Associate Dean of Curriculum and Advisement is primarily responsible for providing leadership in the coordination and administration of graduate and undergraduate enrollment management and student services of the College; monitoring the student academic policies and procedures of the College; and providing leadership in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment. The Associate Dean of Student and Academic Programs reports directly to the Dean.

The Associate Dean of Faculty and Research Programs is primarily responsible for advancing a culture of academic excellence where distinction in teaching, scholarship and other creative works and service is expected and rewarded; and for providing leadership for research programs, scholarly efforts, and strategic multidisciplinary research initiatives that further the College’s strategic plan. The Associate Dean of Faculty and Research Programs reports directly to the Dean.

The Manager of Electronics and Research Technology is responsible for the electronics needs of both student and research lab equipment in COSM, as well as IT needs for specialized hardware and software needed for research or other purposes not supported by ITS.
